A boy group member has suddenly announced his upcoming marriage to a non-celebrity, surprising fans and netizens but also earning many congratulations.
On August 17th, agency Mystic Story announced, “Choi Sangyeop is preparing for a new start with a precious relationship in August.”
Since the bride-to-be is a non-celebrity, the wedding will be held privately out of consideration for her. The agency added, “We understand the surprise this sudden news may have caused fans. We would appreciate your warm support. Choi Sangyeop will continue to repay with good music and activities as a member of LUCY.”
Choi Sangyeop also posted a handwritten letter on the fan community to personally greet his fans.
He wrote, “I am about to embark on a new chapter in life with someone whom I have cherished and relied on for a long time. I understand that some of you may be surprised by this sudden news. Nonetheless, I wanted to share this precious moment of my life with you all first.”
He continued, “I will continue to hold onto my passion and responsibility for music as I always have, and I will do my best to repay you with better music and performances on stage. I sincerely thank you for your consistent support and affection.”
Born in 1994, Choi Sangyeop gained public attention through JTBC‘s Superband in 2019. He then joined LUCY, the runner-up team of Superband, as the new vocalist, collaborating with Shin Yechan, Jo Wonsang, and Shin Gwangil.
