BTS’s RM recently shared a long, emotional message on Weverse reflecting on love, growth, mistakes, and his feelings ahead of returning to activities.
While many fans praised the sincerity of the post, it quickly became a hot topic on online community Pann, where the reaction was far more divided.
“To me, “love” is still a complicated word.
Have I ever truly loved someone, even once?
I held onto that question for a long time,
but the only thing that became clear was this:
I still don’t really know.
Over the past year, I felt trapped by so many things.
So much comes and goes
things that appear only to disappear,
things that arrive only to leave.
In between, I wavered countless times, suffered,
and passed through many mistakes.
After all that time,
it feels like I’m finally standing here, looking toward spring.
This waiting may not be the last,
but I didn’t stop, I made it this far.
I’m grateful for that.
I think a lot,
and every time I tell myself I’ve grown, that I’ll keep believing in that going forward,
I know I’ll fail again and make mistakes again.
In the process, I’ll probably disappoint others
and hurt myself too.
But I think I understand this now:
saying “I tried my best” doesn’t become the answer to everything.
As I return after a long time, I feel both very excited
and deeply humble at heart.
No matter how carefully I catch my breath and choose my words,
they still come out rough and clumsy,
and I don’t even know why I end up saying so much.
Still, I want to speak without hiding.
Even now,
when good music is being made, my heart races,
and when I joke around with the members, I end up laughing like a kid.
And when I think of the ARMY Bombs in the audience,
shining like a forest at night,
it feels like I might cry.
Because I believe that this energy and these feelings
are what brought me, and us, this far.
Some people will watch,
some will leave,
some will worry, feel regret, or criticize.
Even so, if there is a heart that waits for us in some form,
if that is your love,
then I want to stand back up again and again
even if I stumble and sway while doing it.
The way one person tries to love the world.
The way one person tries to live.
If each of us is a universe,
then that might be the whole of that universe.
With that kind of heart,
I wait, and wait.
My New Year’s greeting came late.
As for me, I’m going to try to move forward now.
To the place where the sun rises, where spring can be heard
and finally, to the place where you are.

Love is still complicated,
