    The controversial streamer Johnny Somali is facing consequences for his actions.

    Known as a “nuisance” streamer, Somali, whose real name is Ramsey Khalid Ismael, quickly rose to infamy in South Korea while visiting in 2024 due to his controversial actions, which included harassing Korean convenience store workers, public indecency, and vandalism.

    The most serious of his actions, desecrating a statue commemorating South Korean comfort women and child sexual harassment for a stunt at the Lotte World theme park, have led to him facing legal consequences.

    On April 15, it was announced that Somali was found guilty of multiple charges, including obstruction of business and distributing fabricated sexually explicit content.

    Somali was barred from leaving the country pending trial, and before his sentencing, he expressed remorse and a desire to apologize to South Koreans for his actions. He was immediately detained following the verdict, and sentenced to he was sentenced to six months of prison labor, 20 days of detention, ordered registration as a sex offender, and a five-year employment restriction at institutions related to children, adolescents, and the disabled.

    Johnny Somali was previously restricted from entering Japan following his actions in the country and has also been banned on five streaming platforms, including Twitch and YouTube. He also incited reactions with behavior like threatening BTS and making nuclear bomb jokes while in Japan.
