A controversial actress expressed her frustration directly regarding a past controversy that came up while she was trying to do something for a good cause.
On the 26th, Hwang Jung Eum uploaded a video titled “A Day of Self-Dyeing Hair with My 72-Year-Old Dad” on her YouTube channel. In the released video, she took time to introduce her house.
When the topic of the free toy giveaway controversy from the past came up during the conversation, Hwang Jung Eum said, “I intended to share with good intentions.”
She continued, “I uploaded a photo that was not well organized in a rush, which caused a lot of misunderstandings.”
Previously, Hwang Jung Eum posted about a free toy giveaway on her personal social media account, but due to unorganized photos, she faced criticism that she was giving away waste materials. A netizen who visited the scene at the time wrote a post clarifying, “It didn’t seem like waste at all.”
In response, Hwang Jung Eum shared her bittersweet yet relieved feelings, saying, “Anyway, those who came used them well, so it ended well.”
Meanwhile, in September last year, Hwang Jung Eum was indicted without detention on charges of embezzling about ₩4.30 billion KRW (about $2.85 million USD) of company funds and was sentenced to two years in prison and four years of probation that same year. It was also revealed that after founding her one-person agency in 2022, she failed to register for the public culture and arts planning business for four years, which caused further controversy.
Having kept a low profile until now, Hwang Jung Eum launched her YouTube channel on the 15th and stated, “Rather than making excuses, I want to slow down and reflect on myself with a responsible attitude, learning from daily life and sincerely sharing it.“
