A controversial K-Pop idol, who had previously announced a break from social media, is now drawing renewed attention.

Recently, Shinhwa‘s Kim Dongwan hinted at stopping social media activity by saying, “When I start a new project, I have to disable Threads.” He also added, unexpectedly, that it was a “contractual condition,” sparking curiosity about the reason.

Joking that he might be the first in the world to do so, he added, “I’m a bit cautious,” showing awareness of the controversies he has faced.

Indeed, Kim Dongwan has been embroiled in several social media-related controversies recently, from his outspoken stance on the legalization of prostitution to publicly supporting the controversial MC Ding Dong, leading to repeated criticism and apologies.

Despite this, he has not completely quit social media. Instead, his approach has changed noticeably.

On the 4th, through his personal social media account, Kim revealed, “These days, I consult with AI before posting anything,” reviewing his sentences and checking for potential controversies. However, he added, “I make the final decision. AI is still shameless,” expressing both trust and caution toward AI.

When a fan commented, “It’s a world where you have to watch your every step,” he replied, “I guess I have to be more careful,” continuing his self-discipline.

Meanwhile, he previously expressed his belief that “the quietest way to respond to rudeness is to keep your distance,” sharing his views on social media and personal relationships. Although he hasn’t fully quit social media, he is receiving support for his changed behavior. Attention is now focused on whether Kim Dongwan will show a new side not through bluntness but through “censorship,” marking the future direction of his social media activity.
