“They got full of themselves way too young.”

CORTIS are facing heavy criticism after comments made during a livestream following their first world tour concert sparked backlash from Korean netizens.

The rookie boy group’s first concert had already become a hot topic after fans criticized the show’s 1-hour and 40-minute runtime, repeated songs in the setlist, and lack of outfit changes or special stages. While some defended the group due to their limited discography, many felt the concert did not offer enough for the ticket price.

Following the concert, the members held a livestream where Martin spoke about the atmosphere during the show.

When we do everything for our stage, but we don’t see everyone enjoying through either their support or chanting, we actually feel… a bit sad.

Rather than receiving sympathy, the comment quickly spread across Korean online communities, where many argued that the members’ priorities were misplaced.

One viral post criticized the group’s mindset, saying that idols are the ones who should be entertaining fans, not expecting paying fans to make them feel appreciated.

The post added that people spend both their money and time to attend concerts, so it is the artists’ responsibility to put on a performance that fans can enjoy.

    • “They got full of themselves way too young. They’ve left a lot of people dumbfounded. Before saying you’re disappointed, you should first make sure you’re giving people what they paid for.”
    • “You’re performers who get paid to put on concerts, and the people who came paid to watch and enjoy your show. They didn’t spend their time and money to watch you have fun or to make you happy. It’s the same in every industry, musicals, plays, and movies. If food tastes bad, people say it wasn’t worth the money. This is like serving bad food and then saying, ‘We’re disappointed you didn’t enjoy eating it.‘”
    • “If they’re going to go live, tell them to apologize for being late to the airport instead of saying stuff like this.”
    • “If you paid the fans, they’d probably give you all the cheers and fan chants you want, lol. I get the kind of image they’re going for, and I understand what they’re trying to say. But they’re not even an established group yet. Shouldn’t this be the stage where they’re still eager to prove themselves and overflowing with passion? You know that rookie energy where they’re desperate to show everyone what they’ve got.”
    • “Honestly, they just don’t have the basic mindset of good customer service.”

The livestream has only added to the criticism surrounding CORTIS’ first concert, with many fans saying the group’s comments came across as blaming the audience instead of reflecting on the concerns that had already been raised about the show.
