Seo Kang Joon’s new K-Drama is off to a rough start despite the actor returning to television after winning the Daesang at the 2025 MBC Drama Awards.
The actor currently stars alongside Ahn Eun Jin in KBS 2TV’s new weekend K-Drama A Love Other Than Yours.
The series premiered on September 12, with Seo Kang Joon playing Namgoong Ho, an employee at a confectionery company who has been in a relationship with Lee Mi Do (played by Ahn Eun Jin) for 10 years.
Despite the star-studded cast and Seo Kang Joon’s recent Daesang win, the K-Drama’s ratings have been surprisingly low.
According to Nielsen Korea, A Love Other Than Yours premiered with a nationwide rating of just 2.6%. Its second episode saw a slight increase to 2.8%.
The numbers are notably lower than Seo Kang Joon’s previous drama, Undercover High School, which premiered with a 5.6% rating in February 2025 and eventually reached a peak of 8.3%.
The new drama is also starting lower than its predecessor in the same time slot. The Complete Marriage (starring Namgoong Min) premiered with a 4.4% rating.
Some viewers have pointed to the drama’s relatively quiet storyline as one possible reason for the slow start. Unlike many recent weekend dramas that rely heavily on action or other genre elements, A Love Other Than Yours focuses on the emotional changes surrounding a long-term relationship and the possibility of marriage.
There has also been discussion about the sudden breakup between the two leads, with some viewers feeling that the drama did not have enough time to establish their chemistry before their relationship began to fall apart.
With the show only two episodes into its run, it remains to be seen whether it can turn its ratings around in the coming weeks.
