    Premiere Watch: Doctor Shin

    by stroopwafel

    Time slot: Saturday & Sunday
    Broadcaster: TV Chosun
    Genre: Melo, suspense, thriller, youth
    Episode count: 16
    Global streamer: TBA

Reasons to watch: Doctor Shin is proof that TV Chosun has a fever, and the only prescription is more makjang.

The drama features a cast full of newcomers, with Jung Yi-chan playing our titular Doctor Shin, and singer Baek Seo-ra making her acting debut as Doctor Shin’s celebrity fiancee turned medical experiment, Momo.

The two lovebirds are torn apart when Momo falls into a coma following a horrific accident. She has no chance of recovery, and Momo’s mother (played by Song Ji-in) begs for Doctor Shin to make a medical intervention. For some reason, the only answer is a risky brain swap, and Momo’s mom volunteers to have her brain transplanted into her daughter with Momo’s brain placed into her mother. Believe it or not, this is only the beginning. Deception and betrayal are lurking in the wings, waiting to pounce on Momo and Doctor Shin.

I can’t really gauge how the drama will turn out in terms of quality or entertainment factor. However, when the drama is straight from the brain of the infamous Phoebe a.k.a. Im Sung-han, I can pretty much guarantee it’ll be interesting. Whether it’s an addictive, fun, kind of interesting or a dramaland turducken of confusion awaits to be seen.
