- Lee Je-hoon (Taxi Driver 3) is reportedly turning attorney for his next project, straightening his tie for There Is a Chance of Winning (roughly translated) on SBS. Adapted from the 2018 Japanese drama Legal V, the Korean remake has also tapped Ha Young (The Trauma Code – Heroes on Call), Ok Ja-yeon (Oh My Ghost Clients), Lee Jae-won (A Hundred Memories), and Jo Sung-ha (Queen Mantis). Production is being led by PD Kwon Da-som (My Demon) along with writers, Jung Jin-young and Kim Eui-chan. [Ilgan Sports, Newsen]
- Coupang Play has announced a new series called Absolute Value of Romance (roughly translated), with Kim Hyang-gi (Cashero) playing our teenage heroine and romance novelist, who models her story characters after her teachers from school: Cha Hak-yeon (Oh My Ghost Clients), N.Flying’s Kim Jae-hyun (Half-Fifty), Sohn Jung-hyuk (a.k.a. Demian)(Love.exe), and Kim Dong-kyu (Dating Class). Slated to launch in April, PD Lee Tae-gon (Bora! Deborah, Diary of a Prosecutor) is directing with writing by Lee Min-joo (CJ ENM’s 2021 writing contest winner). [MBC]
- On KBS, Park Sung-woong (Nine Puzzles) and Lee Soo-kyung (Dog Knows Everything) have confirmed casting for Shim-woo-myun Yeonli-ri (transliterated title) – a play on the phrase, ‟if you plant them, they will grow.” It’s apt because our pair will be transplanted from the city to take up farming in the little village of Yeonli-ri, along with son Lee Jin-woo (Namib). The series is expected to broadcast this March. [Osen]
- Netflix has dropped new stills for their upcoming office rom-com, giving Blackpink’s Jisoo (Newtopia) a virtual Boyfriend on Demand. But presumably her co-worker and rival webtoonist Seo In-guk (Twelve) will have something to say on the matter. And come March 6, he’ll be helping her to see the ways of romance in which reality will win over dreams. [SBS]
- U+ Mobile TV tackles a similar topic in Love Phobia, pitting Yeonwoo (The Tale of Lady Ok) – an AI dating app CEO – against bestseller romance novelist Kim Hyun-jin (I Dol I) in the latest video teaser. Also starring Jo Yoon-seo (Shark – The Storm) and Choi Byung-chan (Business Proposal), the rom-com will be coming to our screens on February 19 next week. [Osen]
- JTBC’s Still Shining will be tugging at our heartstrings as well, re-kindling the romance in the new poster for our two high school sweethearts: Got7’s Jinyoung (Our Unwritten Seoul) and Kim Min-joo (Undercover High School). Broadcasting on Fridays starting March 6, the romance series has PD Kim Yoon-jin (Tell Me That You Love Me, Our Beloved Summer) at the helm with scripts penned by Lee Sook-yeon (A Piece of Your Mind).
