Lee Dong-wook, Jung Ryeo-won
- Lee Dong-wook (The Nice Guy) is reportedly reviewing an offer to headline another melodrama tale, possibly seeing his happy marriage ruined by a torrid Love Affair (transliterated title). Expected to release on an online streaming platform (discussions are ongoing with Netflix), PD Mo Wan-il (The Frog, A Couple’s World) is attached to direct with scripts by Ha Soo-jin (The Matchmakers). - A new medical drama called First Doctor (transliterated title) is said to be in the works and has Jung Ryeo-won (The Midnight Romance in Hagwon) in talks to wear the titular white coat. Production is in the early stages and is currently busy with casting. But not much has been revealed about the story at hand. The drama’s director and writer have not yet been announced as well. Seo Eun-soo, Nam Joo-hyuk
- tvN’s Gift (transliterated title) is also at the casting stage, scouting Seo Eun-soo (Made in Korea) to potentially teach phys-ed, alongside baseball coach Kim Woo-bin (Genie Make a Wish). Based on a popular webtoon by the same title, the sports-fantasy has PD Kim Gyu-tae (The Trunk, Our Blues) at the helm and writing by Min Jung (Police University). [Maeil Kyungje, YTN]
- Nam Joo-hyuk (Vigilante) is said to be considering the lead role in Code – Faust Game (transliterated title), in an adaptation of the hit Taiwanese series Code that aired its first season in 2016, followed by Season 2 in 2019. A Japanese remake of the sci-fi thriller has since released in 2023. And now a Korean version has begun production, led by PD Yoo Soo-min (Weak Hero Class 1 and 2) as well as a team of three writers: Yang Hyun-ah, Kim Gun-woo, and Kim Hyung-joon. - In the meantime, promos continue on MBC with new stills from Perfect Crown, showcasing our chaebol and aspiring noble IU (When Life Gives You Tangerines). Come April, though, she’ll soon become princess once she’s wedded to prince Byun Woo-seok (Lovely Runner), kicking off their not-quite-fairytale nuptials and the rom-com’s ~love~ story. [MBC]
- tvN has come out with a bundle of stills as well, tempting art auctioneer Park Min-young (Confidence Queen) and insurance fraud investigator Wie Ha-joon (Squid Game 3) in Siren’s Kiss. Slated to premiere on March 2 in the Monday-Tuesday slot, the mystery-suspense and Japanese drama remake also stars Kim Jung-hyun (A Hundred Memories) and Lee Elijah (Bait). [MBC]
