A girl group member has announced her intentions to leave her group and retire from entertainment.

    NMB48 member Sakamoto Risa

NMB48 member Sakamoto Risa began her idol career in her early teens, and she has been a member of her group for four years. On March 28, 17-year-old Risa released a statement, telling fans that she has decided to leave idol life in order to focus on her schooling.

She explained that it took her months to come to the decision, which stems from the desire to take her life in another direction. With her high school graduation approaching, Risa wants to focus on preparing for her university entrance exams. She also pointed out that her success in academics fully depends on her own efforts, as opposed to idol life, which heavily depends on her members and fans’ support.
