On the May 6 broadcast of MBC entertainment show Radio Star, featuring Choi Daniel, SeeYa‘s Nam Gyuri, Ahn Ji Young, and TXT‘s Beomgyu, various stories were shared by the guests. One of the stories involved someone who failed to debut with SM and YG Entertainment.

On the show, when asked about SeeYa, Nam Gyuri caught attention by saying, “I was a trainee at SM and YG but never debuted as a singer.”

Nam Gyuri recalled, “When I turned 20, I was worried about how I would survive if I couldn’t debut as a singer at this age. I was the last trainee at Ryu Jae Hyun’s company, and then one day the director called me and asked, ‘Gyuri, want to go to the recording studio and sing a line?’ so I went.”

She continued, “The composer asked me to sing just two lines of a song they played for me. I sang, and they told me to ‘cry more,’ and ‘sing more deeply.’ I sang while crying, and our debut song hit No. 1 just 40 days after debut,” revealing that the song was SeeYa’s debut track, “Scent of a Woman,” which surprised many.

Kim Gu Ra said, “At that time, they were known as the female SG Wannabe.” Nam Gyuri added, “Originally, SeeYa planned to debut as singers without showing their faces, but after I joined, we decided to debut officially.” Upon hearing this, Kim Gu Ra jokingly said, “You’re naturally bragging about yourself.”
