A Korean female YouTuber is causing controversy after turning on a prohibited camera in a mixed-gender bath in Japan.
Recently, a female YouTuber traveled alone to Hokkaido, Japan. After passing through a blizzard, she arrived at a budget-friendly accommodation with separate men’s and women’s baths as well as a mixed-gender bath.
She introduced the baths, saying there was a women’s bath, men’s bath, and a mixed one, and since she arrived late, she headed to the women’s bath. She turned on her camera inside the women’s bath, where everyone is supposed to undress completely, saying, “There’s no one here, probably because it’s late, so I’ll show you around.”
She enjoyed the women’s bath, which consisted of indoor and outdoor sections, and admired the nighttime view harmonizing with nature. The next afternoon, she went to the mixed-gender bath and turned on her camera, saying, “I said I would explain how I filmed in the mixed bath. Now, I’ll tell you what happened.”
She said, “There’s always a lot of people here, so filming is usually not allowed, but I went in to enjoy… Despite filming being prohibited, there were people filming without caring at all whether I entered or not. Normally, if doing something forbidden, you’d be conscious of other people’s reactions.”
She continued, “But these people didn’t care about me at all and kept filming. So I decided to enjoy it with them. Thanks to that, it turned into a party where everyone just had fun together. I don’t know if there’s something I don’t know, but even people coming in afterward were just filming. At Baekunjo mixed bath, wearing a swimsuit is mandatory, so be sure to bring one.”
The YouTuber, who didn’t bring a swimsuit, mentioned she rented one for 300 yen. She left a review saying, “Some mentioned in reviews that people go completely naked, but when I went, there was no one like that.”
After being published, the video sparked controversy after spreading across various online communities. It was a public place with signs prohibiting filming even when wearing swimsuits, and she violated those rules.
Netizens responded with comments like, “This is a disgrace to the country,” “Following others just because they do it,” “Let’s keep basic manners,” “Didn’t she know it was wrong?” and “This is shocking.”
