Fifties Professionals line up Shin Ha-kyun, Oh Jung-se, and Heo Sung-tae

Turning back from neighborhood ajusshis to become fighters once again, MBC has called Shin Ha-kyun (The Auditors), Oh Jung-se (We Are All Trying Here), and Heo Sung-tae (Phantom Lawyer) to action as the comedy’s Fifties Professionals in the newest video teaser and stills.
The glory days spent working as black-ops in the National Intelligence Service (NIS) has long since passed for Jung Ho-myung (Shin Ha-kyun). And now as a 50-something, our de-fanged hero is struggling from age-related hormone changes and is feeling like a doormat, pushed around by demands from his family as well as his restaurant customers.
The amiable Bong Jae-soon (Oh Jung-se) is in a similar boat, having to spend his work days running all sorts of errands for his co-workers at Young-sun Steel. But Jae-soon also suffers from amnesia, following a drowning accident that happened 10 years ago. And the pretty crucial truth that he can’t seem to remember is that Jae-soon is actually a dangerous North Korean spy.
Convenience store owner Kang Bum-ryong (Heo Sung-tae) is hiding his true identity as the Hwasan gang’s number two, joined by his loyal lackey and store part-timer Lee Hak-joo (Boyfriend on Demand). It started as a mission to catch Ho-myung and avenge their leader’s death. But now after 10 years of limbo, Bum-ryong is more interested in his business profits and I suspect he’s even crushing on local police officer Han Ji-eun (Study Group).
In this maelstrom of conflicting agendas, our trio will have to get their mojos back and perhaps the changing tides will see them joining hands as allies. As we see over the sequence, the mix of friends and foes in the supporting cast include, Kim Shin-rok (Tastefully Yours), Kim Sang-kyung (Poong the Joseon Psychiatrist), and Kim Sang-ho (Typhoon Family), in addition to Hyun Bong-shik (Mad Concrete Dreams) as well as Kwon Yul (The Winning Try) among other talents.
Directed by PD Han Dong-hwa (Shadow Detective, Navillera) with Jang Won-seop writing, MBC’s upcoming Fifties Professionals will be premiering this month on May 22, broadcasting on weekends following Perfect Crown.
