A viral post discussing TREASURE‘s popularity has recently sparked discussion amongst fans.

    TREASURE | YG Entertainment

Following the survival show YG’s Treasure Box, the boy group debuted in 2020 as a 12-member group. In the year of their debut, they were named the fastest-growing K-Pop group in the world by Twitter and were in the top ten most tweeted K-Pop acts of the year.

In 2022, the group’s line-up changed with the departures of Mashiho and Bang Yedam, though their release following their departure, “Bona Bona” recorded strong results.

A recent post on X appeared to show a “decrease” in popularity, as reflected in views on TREASURE’s TikTok account. Videos from three and four years ago have significantly more viewers than more recent ones.

They had it all😔 watching the views decreasing as time goes on is so depressing pic.twitter.com/Oz7CrWitbq

Many fans discussed possible reasons for this change, with some blaming YG Entertainment for not properly promoting the group.

I feel so sad for them 😔 I genuinely love treasure, but so many things added up for them to be forgotton https://t.co/EBtbjNSisO

I was there during the WIN era, I was there when Treasure is becoming Treasure, and now Baemon, and the next gen in this company. Your era of not giving a fck @ygent_official is done. Move your ass off and promote your talented artists, YG. Where’s the master plan? WE CAN’T SEE https://t.co/9dhXtIi72R

While other companies give their groups all the payola, mediaplay and good promo possible to gain more fans, here’s @ygent_official not doing anything to help treasure go bigger to gain more fans. They’re losing fans actually and only the loyal core fans are staying. https://t.co/3BllKaTtxA

When looking at other aspects that have been historically used to gauge popularity, the group did see a drop in streaming rank on the Circle Digital Chart, with their releases either ranking below the top 100 or not at all. On the other hand, their album Love Pulse documented their highest first day and first week sales, as well as hitting a million sales the fastest.

The group’s upcoming Japanese tour also sold out, showing the group still have the support of fans.

Despite this, it is easy to understand why fans over the group not reaching their maximum potential due to their agency’s alleged inaction.
