Former AOA member Kwon Mina attempted suicide but was urgently rescued.
On the 1st, Kwon Mina posted on her social media account, “Goodbye. And I’m sorry. You don’t have to believe me, and you can curse all you want. I’ve posted shocking and cruel scenes, repeatedly talked about things until everyone was exhausted, posted things I was wrong about, I wasn’t in a normal state… even now… But I was truly wronged in all these incidents and situations. I’m so wronged that I still have the same dreams every day about those scenes. It’s painful,” hinting at suicide.
Regarding why she posted this, she explained, “Unless you’ve been in that situation or incident, other words come out and rumors spread. I didn’t want more unfairness, so I bravely tried to expose things… but I ruined myself. I have no material evidence like CCTV or recordings, so not only about the group incident but also regarding being a victim of sexual assault for four years, the rape has been acknowledged, but the injury hasn’t been proven,” revealing past sexual assault victimization.
She added, “Thank you so much to everyone who cared for me, loved me, and treated me like a human, and I’m sorry… I hope everyone lives happily, joyfully, and in a harmonious family atmosphere for a long time. I’m sorry,” which worried fans after the post was made.
In the early hours of New Year’s Day, Kwon Mina attempted suicide but was fortunately rescued. She said, “When I hanged myself, I couldn’t breathe, my vision went blurry, and I have no memory after that. I lost consciousness… If I had been left a little longer, I could have really kept my promise today. Suddenly, I heard a sound and someone was shaking me,” continuing, “My consciousness was coming and going, and inside I kept hoping, hoping… but I was rescued again? Now I’ve become like the boy who cried wolf… but I will definitely keep my promise to disappear right in front of your eyes. The prosecutor appealed the second trial, so I’m waiting, but I don’t know if I can hold on against those who aren’t even human… The world is fair = hypothesis… Not a death report, but another crazy article will come out, how disappointing.”
Her post has since been deleted.
Kwon Mina debuted in 2012 as a member of AOA and left the group in 2019, claiming she was bullied by other members, which elicited sympathy. However, she later faced criticism over allegations of nurse abuse, forced breakups, apologies during social media live broadcasts, and controversies over her sincerity in explanations.
