Ha Suk-jin puts Love on the Menu with Hani

The meal prep is well underway for KBS’s upcoming weekender, putting Love on the Menu (previously Love Is Coming) for Ha Suk-jin (Siren’s Kiss) and Hani, a.k.a. Ahn Hee-yeon, (Call It Love) in the first video teaser as well as character stills.
Food is indeed a theme in this drama, bringing Kim Mu-jin (Ha Suk-jin) and Han Kyu-lim (Hani) together when they were both working at the same restaurant, 8 years ago in the past. The economic divide between our leads then reared its ugly head as our hero’s affluent family were disapproving of the less privileged Kyu-lim, and their relationship ended (badly) after a year of dating.
Mu-jin was more than willing, though, to give everything up and choose love instead. But Kyu-lim couldn’t do the same because she needed to care for her younger siblings. And while I don’t love that our heroine chose noble idiocy as a way to break up with Mu-jin, I can appreciate that Kyu-lim had too much on her plate and probably didn’t have the emotional capacity to stew over love on top of her family situation.
Our story’s present day then picks up 8 years later, when the fates stir up a second chance for the now restaurateur Mu-jin and banchan (side dish) shop employee Kyu-lim.
Also starring Park Yoo-na (Spirit Fingers) and Bae Jung-nam (Spring Fever), KBS’s family drama Love on the Menu is slated to begin dining on July 25 next month. Broadcasting on weekends following Recipe for Love, production has PD Hong Seok-gu (Queen’s House, Beauty and Mr. Romantic) directing with scripts penned by Lee Kyung-hee (Chocolate).
