On the morning of the 7th, a production briefing for the film Wild Sing was held at Lotte Cinema, Konkuk University in Seoul. Attending the event were the lead actors Gang Dong Won, Um Tae Goo, Park Ji Hyun, Oh Jung Se, and director Son Jae Gon.
Wild Sing is a comedy about a three-member mixed dance group called Triangle that once swept the music scene but disbanded overnight due to an unexpected incident. Twenty years later, they take a reckless challenge to seize a chance at a comeback. The film is a collaboration between About Film, the production company behind the 2019 comedy hit Extreme Job which drew 16.26 million viewers, and director Son Jae Gon who has established a unique comedic style with films like Secret Zoo.
Most notably, in this film, Gang Dong Won, Um Tae Goo, and Park Ji Hyun unite as the mixed dance group Triangle, promising fantastic chemistry. In particular, Gang Dong Won attracted attention for the Boombastic choreography in 2016’s A Violent Prosecutor and now, after ten years, he transforms into an idol character, raising anticipation.
Gang Dong Won said, “While preparing for this project, I realized something. Watching idols, I always thought ‘it must always be so tough.’ But during this shoot, I came to respect them.”
On why he chose the comedy genre, he shared, “Comedy has always been my favorite. The script was really fun. I liked that it was a tightly packed comedy with a very satisfying ending. It wasn’t open-ended, which I really liked. The process of moving toward the ending and the stories of the four characters were so entertaining. That’s why I wanted to do it,” expressing his affection for the film.
