After many trials and eight years with her girl group, an idol is saying goodbye to her members.
In 2018, Sato Rika passed the Sakamichi Joint Auditions and became a member of Nogizaka46, a J-Pop girl group that formed in 2011. In 2019, Rika officially became a member of Nogizaka46’s 4th Generation. The group currently has six generations in total, with each generation marking the arrival of new members.
On February 16, Rika announced that she will be leaving Nogizaka46 after she finishes the promotions for her group’s 41st single, “Saigo ni Kaidan wo Kake Agatta no wa Itsuda?,” which will drop on April 8. In a blog post on Nogizaka46’s official website, Rika looked back on her early days with Nogizaka46, the frustrations she overcame during her trainee days, and all her failed auditions to become an idol. It took Rika nearly ten years to debut.
Now, she’s stepping away from the idol dreams she worked so hard to achieve, but her decision wasn’t an impulse one. Rika said that she decided to leave the group a few years ago, and she became more certain about it over the past year.
