ILLIT’s Wonhee
On December 31, KST, Wonhee took the stage at the 2025 MBC Gayo Daejejeon, where she performed IU’s popular song, “Good Day.”
Ever since this cove performance got announced, netizens have been eagerly waiting to see how the ILLIT member pulls off such a difficult song, especially the infamous triple high note.
Since it’s definitely a “Good Day”, here’s IU belting her iconic triple high notes on YHY’s Sketchbook stage through the years. She must have performed this a thousand times already over the past decade – truly a living legend. 👑 #IU #아이유 pic.twitter.com/mBl4oum1ln

However, the reaction to Wonhee’s performance has been highly divided. On the one hand, fans were blown away by her vocal prowess and felt like it was a fitting reply to all naysayers who doubted her ability to cover “Good Day” live.

On the other hand, critics rushed in, arguing that the HYBE idol did not sing the song live but used pre-recorded vocals to stimulate a live sound. Some even brought up IU’s live vocal performance of the song, pointing out that she had to visibly push her throat muscles to hit the high notes, whereas Wonhee appeared to be doing it without even breaking a sweat.
Wonhee is the greatest vocalist kpop has ever seen cause she hit that high note LIVE and didn’t break a sweat. Even IU, the original singer, had to close her eyes almost popping veins to do it. 🔥pic.twitter.com/QmrmxzV0yz https://t.co/j1zQ5C1MIz

Some defended the idol, posting an audience-recorded version of the triple high note, where her voice could be heard going slightly off-pitch for a moment, a characteristic of a live vocal performance. However, netizens also criticized this version, labelling it badly delivered.

In response, many again defended Wonhee, arguing that she was simply nervous during the performance and pulled it off well for such a young idol.
