Reasons to watch: It’s the start of a romance streak in dramaland, with MBC bringing us a romance enveloped in mystery. In Your Radiant Season features Lee Sung-kyung and Chae Jong-hyeop as two people who seem to be fated to be in each other’s lives, even as circumstances work against them.
In the drama’s present timeline, our leads are both working in art and design when they first encounter each other. Except it’s not actually the first time. Seven years in the past, the two had already fallen for each other but some mysterious (and traumatic) event marked the end of their relationship. Lee Sung-kyung is left with no memory of their past together and while Chae Jong-hyeop remembers her, he’s not sure how–or if–he should bring up the past. In the here and now, Lee is drawn to the man she has “just” met, but as they start to fall in love once again secrets laid bare may lead them apart.
There are a number of popular actors in our main cast (I’m especially happy to see Lee Mi-sook so soon after her top-tier performance in Tempest), but writer Jo Sung-hee is one of the main reasons I’ll be tuning in. This is her first drama since Thirty but Seventeen, and though it’s been six years, I still think about how beautifully she portrayed healing and love across time. If In Your Radiant Season carries that same ethos, this could be the warm healing drama we need as winter drags its heels on its way out.
