Singer and TV personality Kim Jong Kook empathized with a person experiencing emotional infidelity and urged them to divorce their partner.
On September 10th, a video titled “Park Min Cheol Lawyer’s Office Pre-Opening. Invited Kim Jong Kook” was posted on a YouTube channel.
In the video, Kim Jong Kook visited divorce lawyer Park Min Cheol’s office and discussed real consultation cases, talking about to what extent behavior between spouses can be considered infidelity.
Lawyer Park cited a case where a spouse exchanged messages with another person saying things like “I want to marry you in the next life,” “I really miss you,” and “Shall I go to Busan tomorrow morning?” but they never actually met.
After hearing this, Kim Jong Kook immediately sighed and firmly stated, “That is infidelity.” Lawyer Park added, “The wife never went to Busan, and nothing actually happened,” but Kim’s view remained firm.
He said, “This is definitely infidelity. Divorce is definitely the right choice,” showing a resolute attitude. He also explained, “This doesn’t mean physical mistakes are okay either. Many people do continue their marriage even after such incidents.”
Kim Jong Kook considered a spouse emotionally relying on another person even more serious. He opined, “These messages mean ‘you are the person I emotionally rely on more than my spouse,’ don’t they?”
In response, Lawyer Park explained, “Courts do not necessarily base judgments of infidelity solely on physical relations.” He added, “The key criterion in precedents is whether there was emotional communication with the opposite sex. Such relationships can be judged as more dangerous infidelity and can be grounds for divorce.”
Kim Jong Kook announced his marriage to a non-celebrity woman last September and held a private wedding with only family and close friends invited.
