IU proposes a contract marriage to the Perfect Crown Byun Woo-seok

The latest teaser for MBC’s modern fantasy Perfect Crown paints a budding romance between the regal ruler Byun Woo-seok (Lovely Runner) and his contract bride IU (When Life Gives You Tangerines), set in an alternate version of Korea where a monarchy still exists.
Despite being the second child of the prestigious Castle Group, gossip has it that chaebol heiress Sung Hee-joo (IU) is lacking in many ways. But Hee-joo isn’t the type to take insults lying down. She may be of commoner origins, but she’ll snap right back in a nobleman’s face.
With her father pushing matchmaking upon her, Hee-joo lands upon a perfectly preposterous idea — she’ll just marry the grand prince Yi-ahn (Byun Woo-seok). Naturally, Hee-joo’s personal secretary Lee Yeon (Shoot For Love) recoils in shock at the incredulous notion. But for Hee-joo, if there’s a will, there’s a way.
Even so, the Prime Minister Min Jung-woo — played by Noh Sang-hyun (Genie, Make A Wish) — can’t help but worry about Hee-joo, who used to be his close school hoobae. To his question of whether social status is her only reason for pursuing this marriage, Hee-joo nods confidently. She’ll be rising up the social ladder. To that end, Hee-joo asks Jung-woo to approve her marriage.
Thus begins the dazzling union between the two prominent figures, but it isn’t long before the mutually beneficial marriage blossoms into bashful smiles and tender embraces. From luxurious cruises to lighthearted rooftop dancing, the line between fake and real begins to blur. “Marry me,” Hee-joo proposes to Yi-ahn, with a determined glint in her eyes.
Directed by the Love Your Enemy duo of Park Joon-hwa (Alchemy of Souls) and Bae Hee-young (Cinderella at 2AM), with scripts written by Yoo Ji-won, Perfect Crown is slated for an April 10 premiere.
