Jeon So-young must survive in If Wishes Could Kill

What if an app could grant any wish? The only catch is your death. Netflix’s horror series If Wishes Could Kill toys with that very premise as a group of high school students make a wish and in exchange receive a countdown to their deaths.
The newest teaser for the upcoming show is not for the squeamish as it opens to a high school boy — Lee Hyo-je (Taxi Driver 3) — wielding a box cutter. His classmate Baek Sun-ho (Dear X) worriedly calls his name, but his attention remains focused on his phone. A red timer counts down, and suddenly, he lunges towards his other classmate Yoo Se-ah, played by Jeon So-young (Honour). Screams fill the classroom as Se-ah turns away, and the clock rewinds back to before this all happened.
Amongst the students, a new trend has gripped them. You write down your name and birth date, then make a wish. However, once you hit send, the horrors begin. After making innocuous requests like “cancel practice,” it seems the price is anything but harmless.
In quick succession, the teaser shows Se-ah running for her life, Kang Mina (Twelve) breaking glass then dragged across the floor, Hyun Woo-seok (Cheer Up) trying to escape, and students floating in the air. As Se-ah screams at someone (or something) to get lost, we see a bloodied hand holding a red timer that reads zero. At the very end, a masked person briefly appears, suggesting that someone is out there responsible for the app and the killings. Will the students break the curse and survive, or will they become the next victims in this vicious countdown?
Directed by PD Park Yoon-seo (Moving) with scripts penned by Park Joong-seop (Dr. Cheon and the Lost Talisman), If Wishes Could Kill is slated for eight episodes and premieres April 24.
