Lee Jun-ki, Ha Yoon-kyung
- Lee Jun-ki (Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun) has reportedly been tapped to turn baddie in Netflix’s movie Shaving (also known as Dochabi or ‟goblin” in Korean), potentially joining Kim Do-hoon (Dear X). Aiming to start filming in August once casting has been finalized, the sageuk-action is penned by screenwriter Hwang Sung-koo (The King’s Warden) with directing by filmmaker Ahn Tae-jin (The Night Owl). Ahn notably worked previously with Lee on the 2005 film King and the Clown. [My Daily, SBS]
- Ha Yoon-kyung (Undercover Miss Hong) is fielding an offer from the medical series First Doctor (likely on Netflix), which also has Jung Ryeo-won (The Midnight Romance in Hagwon) and Kim Mu-yeol (Teach You a Lesson) in talks. Currently in the planning stages, production is being led by PD Hong Jong-chan (Teach You a Lesson) and writer Kim Min-seok (Juvenile Justice), who both have a working history with Kim Mu-yeol. - In the meantime, Ha Yoon-kyung is featured in JTBC’s latest trailer and character posters for The Apartment Job (previously Apartment, alongside her co-stars: Ji Sung (The Judge Returns), Park Byung-eun (Dear Hongrang), and Moon Sori (When Life Gives You Tangerines). Broadcasting on weekends starting July 11, the crime-comedy has PD Jo Yong-won (Missing Child) directing and writer Kim Yoon-young (My Strange Hero) leading the team. [MBC (1), (2)]
- Disney+ has come out with a teaser and poster set as well, bringing back Lee Dong-wook (The Nice) and Kim Hye-joon (Cashero) to run A Shop for Killers 2. With Jo Han-seon (Stove League), Geum Hae-na (Run On), Kim Min (Reverse), and Lee Tae-young (Heroes Next Door) also reprising their roles, Season 2 of the novel-adaptation will be launching sometime this July. - On KBS, promos continue for Love Is Coming with a batch of character stills, showcasing the weekender’s central two leads: Ha Suk-jin (Siren’s Kiss) and Hani (Call It Love). Slated to premiere next month on July 25, the family drama will be following Recipe for Love. PD Hong Seok-gu (Queen’s House, Beauty and Mr. Romantic) is directing with Lee Kyung-hee (Chocolate) writing the scripts. [10 Asia (1), (2)]
- It’s busy on the Netflix front with The East Palace dropping a slew of stills, luring spirit-catcher Nam Joo-hyuk (Vigilante), court lady Roh Yoon-seo (The Frog), as well as Joseon’s king Jo Seung-woo (Divorce Attorney Shin) into the mystery-horror tale. The dark sageuk will have a runtime of 8 episodes and will be coming to our screens on Friday, July 17. Helmed by PD Choi Jung-kyu (Soundtrack #2, The Devil Judge), the series is co-written by the writer-duo behind Bulgasal: Immortal Souls, Kwon Sora and Seo Jae-won. [SBS]
