Some netizens are calling on K-Drama viewers to boycott a new series because of its casting.
Phantom Lawyer is a supernatural legal drama about a lawyer (Shin Yi Rang, played by Yoo Yeon Seok) who begins to see ghosts after he moves into a former shaman’s office. These ghosts want justice, so why not take them on as clients? On March 13, the series began airing on Netflix.
While some fans were eager to tune into Yoon’s new K-Drama, others have an issue with him appearing in Phantom Lawyer because of his comments from 2016.
For my kdrama lovers, skip if you see this male lead https://t.co/rprfsTZB2d

While promoting the movie The Mood of The Day with Moon Chae Won, Yoon made a questionable comment about women’s clothing. He claimed that if a woman does not wear revealing clothing, he believes that she is not interested in him. Conversely, if a woman wears revealing clothing when with him, he would take it as a positive sign.
Friendly reminder, the male lead character Yoo Yeon Seok was also a Korean misogynistic ass man in real life. So i encourage you all to skip this drama. pic.twitter.com/fq71oM7XD3 https://t.co/Izv2nTy11N

If a woman wears something translucent, where you can sort of see something whenever they walk? If they wear something like that when they are out with me, I would think they are interested in me. If they are all covered up, it feels like they are putting up a wall and I think they are not interested in me.
— Yoo Yeon Seok
Yoon followed up that comment by telling Moon Chae Won that she’s single because she dresses modestly.
The clip previously went viral in 2024, when Yoon was co-starring with actress Chae Soo Bin in When The Phone Rings.
