A K-Pop idol who once said in the past, “I probably can’t remarry,” has been in the spotlight again, and his ex-wife has candidly shared her feelings about his remarriage news.

On the 11th, Eli from U-KISS announced his remarriage by revealing wedding photos with his fiancée on his social media account. He said, “The past six years were the toughest and most transformative period of my life,” and added, “During that journey, I met a wonderful woman who brought me understanding, happiness, and peace. I found someone to spend the rest of my life with.”

The remarriage news is gaining more attention because Eli previously expressed a negative stance on remarriage when he reunited with his ex-wife Ji Yeon Soo on TV Chosun‘s We Got Divorced 2.

During that broadcast, when Ji Yeon Soo asked about remarriage, Eli responded, “Of course, I’ve thought about it,” but also confessed, “We met, got married, had a child, and ended up here. If I had to do it again, I don’t think I could.” He went on to say, “I just like where I am now,” revealing a lack of confidence in remarriage. Later, in conversations with friends, he drew a line by saying, “We can’t get back together. I don’t love her as a woman.”

However, about four years after the show ended, Eli made the new choice to remarry someone else, drawing interest in his ex-wife Ji Yeon Soo’s reaction.

On the 22nd, Ji Yeon Soo shared her thoughts on Eli’s remarriage news through her YouTube channel, saying, “I totally congratulate him. Congratulations,” adding calmly, “But does my opinion really matter? Honestly speaking.”

She also revealed that she had already known about Eli’s marriage. She said, “I knew he was getting married. Honestly, I didn’t know when,” and added, “My biggest concern was, ‘Min Su has school tomorrow.’ I was worried that some parents might know who Min Su’s dad is and that the child might get hurt hearing about it.”

She continued, “Apparently, there was a comment on the show about not remarrying. But he’s still in his 30s. It’s an age where you can get married again, have children, and live your life,” and said, “I already found my happiness first. Honestly, I really enjoy living with Min Su alone. I think he’s just finding the fruits of happiness later than I did.”

Ji Yeon Soo also said with a laugh, “Min Su knows too. We congratulated him,” adding, “What are we supposed to do if we don’t congratulate him?” She sincerely expressed her support by saying, “Marriage and divorce were very noisy. Now that it’s decided, I hope it goes well and that he’s happy.”

In particular, she emphasized, “My number one priority is always Min Su. Anything not related to Min Su isn’t a big deal. Even if the universe explodes, Min Su falling down would be a bigger problem,” revealing her realistic concern as a mother putting her child first.

Ji Yeon Soo and Eli got married in 2014 and have a son, Min Su, but divorced in 2020. They appeared together on We Got Divorced 2, stirring hope of reconciliation, but eventually chose to co-parent while continuing their separate lives.
