A K-Pop idol performed on the Waterbomb stage for the first time since her debut but faced a cold reaction from the public.
The stage was held on August 22nd at Hanwha Resort Seorak Sorano in Sokcho, Gangwon Province. Nam Yujeong (also known as Nam You Joung), who took the stage at Waterbomb Sokcho 2026, appeared in a bold styling pairing short shorts with a sleeveless top, delivering her trademark bright smile and energetic performance.
This event also marked the official announcement of her solo path following her departure from BBGIRLS (formerly known as Brave Girls).
The songs she chose that day were Jewelry’s “I Really Like You,” Park Myung Soo’s “Prince of the Sea,” and Uhm Jung Hwa’s “Invitation.” All three songs were remakes of existing hits. During the performance of “Invitation,” BTOB’s Lee Minhyuk, who was credited as a featured artist, appeared unexpectedly to perform alongside her.
However, once the stage video was released, reactions targeting her song choices surfaced first. Some netizens left comments like, “Does she not have any of her own songs?” “I thought she’d have her own style of music since she’s going solo,” and “She shined more when she was part of the group.”
Critiques about the performance and stage quality followed. Comments such as “The dance and singing didn’t meet expectations,” “She looked awkward, maybe from insufficient practice,” and “Her shortcomings were probably covered up by the other members during group activities” appeared.
On the other hand, there were supportive voices saying, “The live audience reacted well,” “It was nice to see her on stage after a long time,” and “Since it’s her first solo stage, I’m looking forward to what’s next,” showing encouragement for her new challenge.
Nam Yujeong debuted as a Brave Girls member in 2016 and gained great popularity when “Rollin’” made a comeback in 2021. The team later changed its name to BBGIRLS, and she left the team in April 2024.
