A Korean star couple is expecting a child, confirmed just a day after rumors of pregnancy circulated based on recent photos.
According to reports on September 30th, announcer and TV personality Kim Da Young is currently pregnant and is scheduled to give birth by the end of this year.
The news came just a little bit over one year after her marriage with announcer and TV personality Bae Sung Jae.
Notably, pregnancy rumors about Kim Da Young began circulating online a day before the official announcement, starting on the 29th.
On that day, Kim Da Young shared photos on her social media from her visit to Seoul World Cup Stadium, where she watched the national soccer team’s match.
She expressed affection by noting, “It’s the first time my husband isn’t doing commentary for a national team game,” and also promoted the schedule of her husband, Bae Sung Jae, who was on assignment for the Asian Games.
In the photos, Kim Da Young wore a white oversized sweatshirt and black pants, accessorized with a cheering muffler and headband, smiling brightly.
Some netizens focused on her silhouette beneath the loose top and commented, “Could there be good news?” and “It looks like there’s a baby in her belly,” expressing curiosity about a possible pregnancy.
At that time, Kim Da Young had not confirmed the pregnancy, so these comments were purely speculation based on the photos. However, the following day on the 30th, news confirmed that Kim Da Young is indeed pregnant and is expecting a baby by the end of the year, bringing renewed attention to the previous day’s photos.
Bae Sung Jae and Kim Da Young married last May after dating for about two years. The couple, who attracted attention due to their 14-year age difference, did not hold a large-scale wedding ceremony; instead, they commemorated their marriage with a meal and ring exchange involving close family members.
Bae Sung Jae started as an announcer at KBS Gwangju Broadcasting Station and joined SBS as part of the 14th class of announcers in 2006. After leaving SBS in 2021, he has been active as a variety show MC and a sports caster for various international competitions.
Kim Da Young joined SBS as an experienced announcer in 2021 and hosted weekday sports news on SBS 8 News and Sports Tonight. She also appeared on the SBS entertainment program Shooting Stars, and left SBS last year.
