A Korean TV personality mentioned the character of a famous celebrity she had encountered in the past, sparking heated responses from netizens.
Recently, on the YouTube channel VIVO TV, Song Eun Yi and Kim Sook were shown talking with psychiatrist Lee Kwang Min over the phone about “human nature” and anger management.
The conversation began with a story about a fiancé who turned aggressively angry while driving. Specialist Lee explained that unlike situations where suppressed emotions are released anonymously in games or inside a car, failing to control anger even when one’s identity can be revealed is something that needs careful attention.
He especially noted that when a usually kind person behaves differently behind the wheel, it is because “having a purpose helps control impulses,” meaning that when trying to win someone’s heart, people tend to wear a sort of “mask” to some extent.
Hearing this, Kim Sook recalled a famous celebrity she personally experienced in the past.
Kim Sook said, “There was a truly famous celebrity back in the day,” adding, “They were so mean that I kept my distance. I thought, ‘That person’s true nature is disgusting.’”
She went on to say that as the celebrity’s popularity declined, public opinion changed as well. Kim said, “Popularity doesn’t last forever, so their popularity dropped. But then they became very nice,” recalling, “People around them said, ‘They’ve changed. Their popularity declined, and they’ve changed as a person.’”
However, Kim did not easily believe it at the time. She said, “I didn’t believe it. I thought, ‘Their true nature is mean.’”
Later, when the celebrity regained popularity, Kim claimed that everyone’s reactions changed once again.
Kim said, “They regained popularity, and then everyone came to me saying, ‘Sook, you were right. Their true nature came back out.’”
When Lee joked, “That’s where the saying ‘people can’t be changed’ comes from,” Song replied with a laugh, “Doctor, are you trying to fix people?”
Kim did not disclose any specific information that could identify the celebrity’s gender, name, or field of activity. However, following the video’s release, speculation about who she was referring to has spread in comments and online communities.
In particular, some netizens have even mentioned the names of famous broadcasters and MCs who have worked or have friendships with Kim in the past in an attempt to “find the person.” There is concern that repeatedly naming specific individuals without evidence could unfairly harm celebrities unrelated to Kim’s experience.
In fact, the only clues Kim gave were “a very famous celebrity in the past” and “someone whose popularity declined and then rose again.” There is no basis to definitively identify any celebrity mentioned online as the person in question.
Reactions are mixed. Some say, “I’m really curious who it is,” or “Isn’t the rise and fall of popularity a clue?” while others respond, “It’s dangerous to point fingers with so little information,” “Innocent celebrities may suffer,” and “We should avoid baseless naming.”
What began as a light conversation about “human nature” and Kim Sook’s past story unexpectedly morphed into a search for a “famous celebrity,” sparking heated debate online.
