Lee Hee-joon keeps Park Hae-soo by his side in The Scarecrow
by lovepark
Three decades of resentment clash between Park Hae-soo (The Price of Confession) and Lee Hee-joon (Nine Puzzles) in the newest teaser for ENA’s The Scarecrow. Spanning from 1988 to 2019, these two men are forced to work together to hunt down a serial killer, but their mutual hatred and disdain threaten to destroy their tenuous partnership.
A serial killer has appeared in detective Kang Tae-joo’s (Park Hae-soo) hometown, leaving their victims tied up and abandoned with a straw doll left as a calling card. Tae-joo is determined to catch the murderer, but unfortunately for him, the prosecutor in charge of the case is none other than his old classmate Cha Shi-young (Lee Hee-joon).
Shi-young greets Tae-joo with a hug, ignoring the latter’s clear discomfort, and says that he missed him. However, that mocking laugh reminds Tae-joo of their past and leaves him shaken. From his derisive tone, it seems that Shi-young still sees Tae-joo as beneath him, and our detective slams the prosecutor against a locker and warns him that he is not the same person from back then.
As tensions rise and things turn physical between our two protagonists, the streets reflect their tumultuous relationship as armed forces flood the area. While Tae-joo chases after the culprit, Shi-young chases after him until, finally, our detective has had enough. He yells at Shi-young to stop messing with him, and a gun goes off. The teaser then ends with Shi-young belittling Tae-joo and threatening to keep him by his side, which is exactly what our detective feared.
Directed by PD Park Joon-woo (Mary Kills People, Crash, Taxi Driver) with scripts written by Lee Ji-hyun (Taxi Driver), ENA’s The Scarecrow is slated for twelve episodes and begins its hunt for the truth on April 20 in the Monday-Tuesday slot following Climax.
