Lee Jun-hyuk still works after winning The Ordinary Jackpot
by tccolb
Winning TVING’s The Ordinary Jackpot in an unexpected turn, life (sort of) changes overnight for corporate grunt Lee Jun-hyuk (The Art of Sarah) in the office drama’s first poster and video teaser set. However, he’s still heading off for his next shift at work, alongside his colleagues, Seo Hyun-woo (A Shop for Killers 2) and Oh Dae-hwan (New Recruit 4).
It’s just another weekday when the trailer begins, following our hero Gong Eun-tae (Lee Jun-hyuk) as he weaves through the crowds in his daily commute. As the leader of Sales Team 5, he is always an hour early to prepare ahead for the day, and it’s not until the clock ticks nine that the rest of the staff trickle in. But the hardworking Eun-tae is also the company doormat, constantly getting stuck with extra projects that the other teams avoid. And his own teammates – including assistant manager Yang Jun-ho (Seo Hyun-woo) – are none too pleased.
Aside from the more sympathetic Jung Sun-hyuk (Oh Dae-hwan), the leader of Sales Team 4, Eun-tae thus trudges through another work day, badgered by his subordinates and peers, in addition to the bosses: Park Bo-kyung (The Art of Sarah) and Lee Hyun-kyun (New Recruit 4). And the poor man ends up staying overnight at work, shifting between the cubicle stations to complete the latest assignment on behalf of his staff.
By chance, convenience store worker Hyun Bong-shik (Fifties Professionals) asks the tired Eun-tae if he wants to buy a lottery ticket, leading of course to Eun-tae’s shock when he wins 1.3 billion won (approximately 1 million USD). We then cut to the hilarious fantasy sequence, where our crazy-eyed hero storms into the office to brandish his resignation with glee. In reality, though, the money is not quite enough to call it quits. But it does give Eun-tae a new perspective and he returns to work with a scheme to turn the company upside down.
Premiering first on TVING’s online platform on September 10 next month, The Ordinary Jackpot will also be broadcasting in tvN’s Monday-Tuesday slot, starting on September 14. Production for the webnovel-adaptation has filmmaker Yoon Young-bin (Tomb of the River) at the helm in both directing and scripts.
