    News bites: March 18, 2026

    by tccolb

    Kim Nam-gil, Lee Yumi

    1. SBS has officially announced production for the sci-fi Nightmare, giving cops Kim Nam-gil (Trigger) and Lee Yumi (As you Stood By) access to a powerful AI tool that can control people unconscious and manipulate their dreams. The vigilante angle being to enact their own justice on those slippery parties who evade imprisonment through (corrupted) legal means. Expected to air in 2027, the crime series has PD Lee Dan (Taxi Driver 2, Our Beloved Summer) directing with scripts by Kim Kyu-won (Alice). [SBS]

    1. On Netflix, the fight for justice calls Woo Do-hwan (Made in Korea) and Lee Sang-yi (Good Boy) back to the ring in Bloodhounds 2. And our boxing boys are joined by Rain (Red Swan), Choi Siwon (DNA Lover), and Choi Young-joon (Honour), in addition to Park Hoon (Trigger), Chansung (Ms. Incognito), and Yoon Yoo-sun (Beyond the Bar) in the latest batch of stills. The new second season will be launching on April 3 in two more weeks. [Sports Chosun]
    2. MBC continues promos with new stills as well, showcasing the prickly, chaebol princess IU (When Life Gives You Tangerines) in the upcoming rom-com Perfect Crown. It’s marriage first, though, and love later when she meets prince Byun Woo-seok (Lovely Runner), unfolding their fantasy romance over weekends starting April 10. The series also stars prime minister Noh Sang-hyun (Genie Make a Wish) and queen dowager Gong Seung-yeon (My Lovely Journey). [MBC]

    1. The picture party is also joined by KBS’s Cabbage Your Life, displacing city fishes Park Sung-woong (Nine Puzzles) and Lee Soo-kyung (Dog Knows Everything) out of their comfy waters. And sending them to flounder in the countryside hills, along with their three sons: Lee Jin-woo (Namib), Seo Yoon-hyuk (Weak Hero Class 2), and Yang Woo-hyuk (Surely Tomorrow). Broadcasting in a new Thursday slot, the comedy begins on March 26 next week. [Osen]
    2. A new poster as well as the first script reading stills have come out for JTBC’s We Are All Trying Here, lining up our story’s browbeaten main cast. Starring Gu Kyo-hwan (Parasyte – The Grey), Go Yoon-jung (Can This Love Be Translated), Oh Jung-se (Tempest), Kang Mal-geum (Surely Tomorrow), and Park Hae-joon (Tempest) among many other talents, the series is slated to premiere on April 18 in the Saturday-Sunday slot.
