Amy Yip was a Hong Kong actress who was known as the local industry’s leading sex symbol in the late 1980s to early 1990s.
She is best known for her roles in the films Erotic Ghost Story (1990) and Sex and Zen (1991).
The 1994 movie Underground Judgement was her last project. She quit the industry so she could spend more time with her partner, Dr. Sammy Lui, who passed away in 2018 while on a flight to the United States.
Amy was largely absent from the public eye until this tragic incident. Afterwards, she reconnected with old friends in the industry who encouraged her to attend more social events. She has since changed her mind about never returning to the small or big screens.
I am open to it. I still enjoy acting. If there’s a good script for a TV drama, I will accept it. The most important thing is to have roles to play. However, returning to acting carries a lot of pressure. With so many new talents emerging, the competition is fierce.
