Namgoong Min wants his wife gone in The Husband
by lovepark
The first teaser for KBS’s The Husband has dropped, featuring Namgoong Min (Our Movie) as the titular husband and Lee Seol (Our Movie) as his missing wife. Caught in a crime amidst a contentious divorce, all signs point to the husband as the prime suspect, and the only way to clear his name is to save her.
“It’s all your fault!” screams Go Se-yoon (Lee Seol) as Kang Tae-joo (Namgoong Min) enters an operating room. Their once loving relationship has soured, and Tae-joo wants to end their marriage. As the teaser jumps ahead to the present, Tae-joo sits across from a detective who asks if he hired someone to kill his wife. Then on screen, a car gets pushed into a river, though the perpetrator’s face remains hidden.
While the reason for their falling out is unclear, it appears the couple has experienced a loss, and Se-yoon resents her husband for it, to the point where she refuses to divorce him because it would mean giving him something he wants. As for Tae-joo, his attitude towards everything seems apathetic as he fails to understand his wife and her needs. In light of these circumstances, the detectives believe he is responsible for her disappearance, but Tae-joo adamantly protests their accusations.
After somehow escaping police custody, Tae-joo gets caught in a car chase with the detectives hot on his heels. Despite our protagonist’s claims of innocence, his actions speak otherwise as the teaser reveals Tae-joo burning the bag of money he withdrew. As someone asks him if he really did it, the only answer we get is a scene of Tae-joo sitting in a car and asking the driver to make his wife disappear.
Co-directed by PD Kim Jung-hyun (Hyper Knife) and PD Kim Min-tae with scripts penned by Jung Jae-ha, KBS’s 12-episode thriller The Husband premieres July 4 in the Saturday-Sunday slot.
