Netflix has confirmed the cast for its action sageuk film Shaving (working title) with Kim Do-hoon (Dear X), Jeon Jong-seo (Queen Woo), Lee Jun-ki (Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun), Lee Sang-yi (A Bona fide Killer), and Bae In-hyuk (Our Universe).
Kim Do-hoon plays former military officer Tae-san who was wrongfully accused of conspiring with the invading outlanders. After going into hiding, he lives a new life in the mountains with Jurchen woman Ahayi (Jeon Jong-seo), but trouble comes to his side of the woods when the masked Lee Do-gwan (Lee Jun-ki) hunts down the slash-and-burn farmers in the village.
Despite Do-gwan being the highest authority in these borderlands, Tae-san stands up against the power-hungry commander with Ahayi fighting alongside him. With each battle, Tae-san’s legend grows as he survives like a monster and fights like a ghost, and soon, the outcast officer becomes known as the town’s protector and dochabi (the Korean word for goblin as well as the original Korean title of this movie).
Meanwhile, rumors of masked attackers bring Goryeo inspector Park Se-ryong (Lee Sang-yi) to the area, and he begins to suspect Do-gwan to be involved. As for the actual highest authority of these lands, Crown Prince Yeolhwa (Bae In-hyuk) takes a special interest in the farmers since the recent conflicts with the outlanders have caused difficulties for them, and with these latest attacks, he feels even more responsible for their suffering.
On the production side, Director Ahn Tae-jin (The Night Owl) returns with his sophomore feature alongside screenwriter Hwang Sung-koo who has penned a number of period pieces including the most recent box-office hit The King’s Warden. With filming set to begin soon, Shaving will eventually be available for streaming on Netflix.
