    “Why call him unemployed?”

In the latest video uploaded to Han Go Eun‘s YouTube channel, the actress and her younger husband discussed their married life, following a well-known physiognomist’s comment on their dynamic.

Previously, the physiognomist described Han Go Eun’s relationship with her husband as that of a “lady and servant,” a remark that could have been offensive. The couple married in 2015, and her husband, Shin Young Soo, had worked as a home shopping merchandiser but quit his job to care for his ill father. He revealed last year that he has been unemployed for seven years.

Regarding the comment, though, Shin Young Soo responded, “The ‘lady and servant’ dynamic actually fits us well.” When asked if it hurt his feelings, he said, “Not at all—not even a little.”

Now it feels like this. When my wife goes to work, I feel thrilled and happy seeing her leave in the best possible condition. On shoot days, I think of myself as staff helping a performer be at their best. And when she comes home, we’re like best friends. So there’s no issue with pride at all.

Han Go Eun also expressed her gratitude, saying, “I told him recently, ‘I don’t remember the last time I felt this loved, cared for, and cherished.”

It feels like I’ve become two people… like I can entrust everything else to someone I trust while I work. It gives me the freedom to focus on my career. I’ve been told that I ‘married well’ quite often. I think people in my industry are probably the ones most envious of me.

That said, many netizens were quick to push back on labeling him as “unemployed,” pointing out that being a stay-at-home spouse—handling household responsibilities and supporting a partner’s career—is a role in itself. Others emphasized that every relationship has its own dynamic, with many expressing admiration for the couple’s mutual respect and happiness, and rooting for the life they’ve built together.

    • He has a full-time homemaker role. What’s the issue?
    • He’s a full-time homemaker, not “unemployed.”
    • Wow, they really married well.
    • They seem to be living happily and having fun together.
    • As long as they’re both happy, that’s all that matters.
    • He’s obviously a full-time homemaker… That’s not easy at all, honestly.
    • He’s a stay-at-home spouse. It just happens that he’s a man. If they’re both happy, that’s what matters most.
    • They look so good together. The husband basically takes care of her like her manager.
    • Being a homemaker is a job.
    • They look happy together.
    • He’s a homemaker. Why call him unemployed? His wife earns well, and they have a great relationship. What more could you want?
