The issue started on Instagram when a fan commented under a post from the artist who reportedly worked on ADOR’s updated branding. The artist replied with what many believe was a sarcastic response.
Comment: “Please free NewJeans. (c) Daniil Kolbasenko”
Artist’s reply: “I don’t have any new jeans, sorry. Only old ones.”

The reaction has been especially strong due to the ongoing tension surrounding the group and its agency.

Some fans believe the interaction reflects a hostile environment for the members behind the scenes, while others worry about how the idols may be treated internally.

I don’t even want to imagine how bad it must be behind the scenes if this is how the hybe staff treats newjeans publicly https://t.co/ZCzKdDCPJJ

Am I right to hear that the artist who drew those nursery animals in ADOR’s rebrand just mocked the girls’ situation https://t.co/CLh2F56nUy

If they’re behaving like this with us just imagine the girls. I’m genuinely concerned for their safety and mental health. https://t.co/0ZupEJdoXH
