“…witnessing a daylight robbery in real time.”

BTS is currently in Mexico for their BTS WORLD TOUR ARIRANG, where they will perform three shows before returning to the United States.

While many fans have shared positive anecdotes from BTS’s ARIRANG concerts, some are less than pleased with their merch experience at Estadio GNP Seguros. What should have been an orderly opportunity for fans to purchase official merchandise turned into a scene of frustration and apparent exploitation.

    BTS

Videos have been circulating on social media of individuals without visible identification badges or uniforms methodically loading large plastic bags and sacks full of items from the official merch tents. Fans reported that purchase limits, already tightened from one of each product to just a single item per person, were being bypassed by these individuals who appeared to be clearing out stock in bulk to resell at higher prices.

this is CRAZY. @BIGHIT_MUSIC needs to sue the venue. https://t.co/vOPN2oPze4

we’ve been in line for HOURS and they let resellers in first and they’re taking everything!!! 🙁 first the tickets and now the merch too. they’re saying they’re going to cancel the selling if we continue to tell them to stop. i’m so upset.#BTS #BTS_ARIRANG… pic.twitter.com/X00PjBqhvK

ARMYs speculated that scalpers had infiltrated the operation with inside help, and some claimed that ARMYs on-site had been “threatened”.

🚨ARMY are calling on @HYBEOFFICIALtwt to intervene after the merch booth incident in Mexico. Fans lined up and waited from 4 AM, but after hours, resellers were prioritized by stadium staff to load all the merch onto trucks to resell—even threatening ARMY who spoke up.💢😠 pic.twitter.com/UHt1eq5TI8

Some ARMYs are now calling on BTS’s agency, HYBE, to take action, while others claim that “corruption” isn’t something the agency can tackle on its own.

This is completely unacceptable. HYBE needs to address this—many armys have been patiently waiting in line for hours just to buy merch, only for resellers to buy bulk of them. Staffs who are distributing this merch should be held accountable.

I’m so sorry for ARMY Mexico. The level of corruption and shady schemes going on is insane—and this is at a local level.
Like, what exactly is HYBE supposed to do about that? These people were hired to provide a service and are favoring resellers for money. I’m 100% sure they’re… https://t.co/dnTTyitjvB

These people were hired to provide a service and are favoring resellers for money. I’m 100% sure they’re not authorized to be doing that…
