Park Eun-bin and The WONDERfools have arrived to save the day

Laughing in the face of evil in 1999 South Korea, Netflix’s The WONDERfools have arrived in haphazard fashion in the newest posters and trailer, introducing the action-comedy’s oddball foursome: Park Eun-bin (Hyper Knife), Cha Eun-woo (Wonderful World), Choi Dae-hoon (Pro Bono), and Im Sung-jae (Law and the City).
Having suddenly transformed from ordinary people to superheroes on the cusp of the millennium, the stoic Lee Woon-jung (Cha Eun-woo) sits slumped in silent stupor as he tries to process. And although his three neighborhood comrades are similarly astounded, they’re also mostly a bundle of giggles and amuse themselves with wordplay jokes about their newfound powers.
As we discover over the promos, Eun Chae-ni (Park Eun-bin) can now teleport at will and Woon-jung wields telekinesis. Kang Ro-bin (Im Sung-jae), on the other hand, is unnaturally very strong. But hilariously, Sohn Kyung-hoon (Choi Dae-hoon) is described as ‟uselessly sticky” in his poster and his unimpressed daughter can only sigh when Kyung-hoon’s hand gets stuck to the door of the fridge.
Our bumbling group stands tall together, though, to fight the story’s danger. Here we say hello to a hooded Bae Nara (Would You Marry Me) who seems to be commanding some kind of cult and he’ll be scheming havoc alongside his baddie father Sohn Hyun-joo (Your Honor).
The period sci-fi and fantasy also stars Chae-ni’s granny Kim Hae-sook (Tempest). And she’ll be joining the adventures of The WONDERfools when the Netflix series launches on May 15 next month. Production has PD Yoo In-shik (Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim) at the helm with scripts penned by Heo Da-joong (Extreme Job).
