Penthouse: War in Life 3 continues the stories of the residents of the prestigious luxury apartment Hera Palace where the residents battle for wealth and power in the midst of betrayal, revenge, and murder.

*Please note there will be spoilers from previous seasons.

Eugene plays Oh Yoon Hee. Following the fallout from season 2, she is now serving time in prison for her crimes.

Lee Ji Ah is Shim Soo Ryun. She is trying to move on and rebuild her life after everything she’s been through, but things take a disastrous turn.

Then we have Kim So Yeon as Cheon Seo Jin who is also serving time in prison for her crimes, but she is struggling to adjust to her new life.

Finally, there is Uhm Ki Joon as Joo Dan Tae. Serving a life sentence in prison proves challenging for him, and he is preparing to change his situation.

Season 3 of Penthouse: War in Life jumps back into the story following the aftermath of the cliffhanger ending of season 2. A lot has changed for most of the characters, so we have to learn what their current lives are like first. But it isn’t long before things get crazy again!

Season three isn’t quite as fast and furious as the previous ones, but it is still fast and has great pacing with lots of fun new plot developments. We also get a few new characters joining the group too which definitely spices things up.

I would say the drama does take even more liberties with the convenient plot devices this time around with it being very easy for all of our villains to get out of bad situations and make what they want happen. It’s definitely a check your brain at the door kind of show.

I loved how we continued to develop the mystery behind some of the plot points introduced early in the first season. We have a lot of questions revisited with some surprising answers. There are again plenty of twists and turns along the way. We get more deceit, revenge, and murder.

This season also had a bit more character development. We get to see growth from several of them over the course of the show, though it’s not always linear and takes some time. This allowed for more emotional in deeper relationship connections. It was definitely nice to go more in depth with the characters and finally see some payoff as they begin to see the error in their ways.

I want to again give credit to the great supporting cast of supporting of Seo Jin’s deeply conflicted ex-husband Yoon Chul (Yoon Jong Hoon), the gossip mother Ma Ri (Shim Eun Kyung), the momma’s boy lawyer Gyu Jin (Bong Tae Gyu) and his wife Sang Ah (Yoon Joo Hee), Logan Lee (Park Eun Seok), and newer characters like Ma Ri’s husband Dong Pil (Park Ho San).

The teenage cast also has another great outing with Yoon Hee’s daughter Ro Na (Kim Hyun Soo), Yoon Chul and Seo Jin’s daughter Eun Byul (Choi Ye Bin), Dan Tae and Soo Ryun’s twins Seok Hoon (Kim Young Dae) and Seok Kyung (Han Ji Hyun), and Gyu Jin and Sang Ah’s son Min Hyuk (Lee Tae Vin).

Penthouse 3 continued the fun with another exciting ride. It stayed true to form by continuing with its angsty and over-the-top-nature. The pacing kept things exciting while taking a few extra moments to develop the characters more deeply.

I personally had a few minor quibbles about the ending, but overall, it was fitting, and the show wraps up our story nicely. I had so much fun with this entire drama. I was never bored for one second and was always excited to continue. It was truly a treat for a makjang lover like me.

    My Rating: 8.5/10
