Perfect Crown, starring IU and Byeon Woo Seok, has suffered another setback amid a historical distortion controversy.
On the 15th, the Perfect Crown blu-ray promotion team officially announced the final cancellation of the blu-ray release on their official fancafe and social media.
Despite the controversy over historical distortion surrounding the work, they had accepted pre-orders from the 8th to the 18th of last month, but the decision to cancel was made amid the aftermath. The planned sale price was set at about ₩260,000 KRW (about $172 USD), and it was scheduled to be sold on Yes24.
Following the news of the blu-ray release cancellation, domestic and international netizens showed extreme differences in opinion. Korean netizens expressed disbelief with comments like, “It was being promoted? Where’s the conscience?“, “Unbelievable,” “It’s shocking they even considered moving forward after all that commotion,” “Ridiculous,” and “Finally?”
In contrast, international fans expressed regret, saying, “Produce the blu-ray. This is the least you can do for those who supported the drama,” “Please make it for international fans,” “This is disappointing for the international community,” and “Please release the blu-ray.”
Perfect Crown was embroiled in controversy over historical distortion, leading not only the production team but also the two leads to issue public apologies.
