“If this is our last year together…”

    Koreaboo

KARD has been together for nearly a decade, and it looks like that run might be coming to an end.

    | SBS Inkigayo

One of the group’s male members, BM, recently opened up about their upcoming album and dropped a bombshell: the album may be their last.

BM explained that the four members have been together for 10 years now and that their contract renewals are due in December. He talked honestly about the possibility of not renewing and becoming an independent artist rather than signing with another agency.

    | DPS Media

BM also promised he and his fellow members are working very hard on the album and revealed some information about its sound!

I’m writing for KARD’s potentially last album for a very long time. So, for the last album, if this is our last year together, I want it to be something that reminds you of early KARD.

Our contracts are up this year in December. And it could potentially be our last album, you know. You guys might not know, but we’re in our 10th year right now. We renewed our contracts 3 years ago. We’re gonna go with a bang for this last one.

    — KARD’s BM

The reaction from fans? More complicated than you’d expect.

Yes, there’s sadness. But a lot of the response has actually been warmth and gratitude.

Imagine being a mixed group active for 10 years, you guys are legends KARD!! After all this time, I think it’s important for the members to discover themselves as solo artists too, and from what he said, they’re not going to disband, they’ll just have more time to focus on their careers.

    — Fan via X

Many fans are holding out hope that, even without a shared label, the members could still release music together down the line. Others are just thankful for the 10 years they got, considering KARD is a co-ed group, and it’s not easy to stick together for so long.

    | Reddit

No official disbandment has been confirmed. But if this really is KARD’s final chapter, BM is making it clear they plan to go out the way they came in… with everything they’ve got!
