Recently, Dispatch released a report claiming that actor Lee Jang Woo, who operates a sundae soup restaurant, failed to pay about ₩40.0 million KRW (about $26,800 USD) for ingredients.
The owner of the meat distribution company claimed that over time, the payment intervals grew longer, with some months receiving no payment at all.
Dispatch reached out to an acquaintance who stated that Lee Jang Woo is not related to the restaurant, and that his friend B was the CEO.

However, an official from the F&B company registered as the legal entity for the restaurant stated that “Company A signed the contract with the meat distribution company, and we paid Company A, but A failed to pay.”
Lee Jang Woo’s side argues that although they paid Company A, the party contracted for the restaurant, Company A failed to pay the meat distribution company, so the responsibility lies with Company A.
However, given that the restaurant in question has been promoted on various TV programs by Lee Jang Woo, he cannot avoid moral responsibility for this situation.
Lee Jang Woo’s side stated, “We are not the ones who failed to pay, but we are considering paying on their behalf to resolve the situation.”
Even if he is cleared of the allegations regarding the non-payment, controversy remains, as Lee Jang Woo portrayed the restaurant as his own on broadcasts, despite not actually operating the establishment but only providing assistance during its early stages.
Meanwhile, Lee Jang Woo’s side is preparing an additional statement, which will be released after it is finalized.
