BAE173‘s Hangyul will be ending his exclusive contract with his agency, PocketDol Studio. The contract has lasted over 10 years.
“Hangyul’s exclusive contract will come to an end on February 28. Over the past 10 years, we have shared a meaningful journey together, watching each other grow. We sincerely thank Hangyul for his quiet passion and dedication throughout that time. Although our exclusive contract is ending, we wholeheartedly support his new activities and challenges moving forward.”
CEO Kim Kwang Soo also shared a touching statement. It is rare for CEOs to personally speak up.
“Hangyul has always stood by the company’s side — during good times and difficult times, in moments of joy and sadness. To me, he has been like a companion, a friend, and even a younger brother. I am truly grateful that he stayed with us for so long. In my 41 years of watching many artists, it’s rare to see someone who steadfastly holds their place and shows such sincerity like Hangyul. He is someone very dear to me — so much so that I cherish him deeply — and I sincerely congratulate and bless him as he takes this new path.”
Hangyul has grown alongside the agency for about 10 years since his trainee days. He first debuted in 2017 with the group IM and later gained public attention after ranking 13th on KBS2’s The Unit. Through Mnet’s PRODUCE X 101, he was selected as a final member and debuted in the project group X1. He later promoted in the unit H&D with Nam Dohyon before officially debuting in BAE173 on November 19, 2020, continuing active promotions.

Most recently, Hangyul was selected as a final member on the survival program Starlight Boys and has been promoting concurrently as part of the group POLARIX, taking on yet another new challenge.
