While music is an art form, metrics related to it are often used to measure success. Although not an indicator of talent, metrics such as chart performance, streaming, and album sales can significantly impact a performer’s future releases and promotions.

Recently, a popular idol’s chart performance became a topic of discussion.

LOONA’s Chuu recently came back with “XO, My Cyberlove,” off her first full album.

Many reacted with surprise to the amount of streams, citing Chuu’s popularity. Chuu currently has 2.7 million followers on Instagram on her main account, and is well-known amongst K-Pop fans for her bubbly personality in appearances on programs.

Some considered this a question of “hype” not matching performance, furthering the discussion.

Twitter hype is such an amusing concept https://t.co/q9aEVutWMu

Others felt that that this debut was still a good amount for a solo artist, and that streaming across all platforms had better performance.

    anyways, chuu will be okay.

Especially if ATRP promotes This earworm steadily.

And if not, brand deals, acting, and SNS revenues will still come her way.

But this is only day 1. She will be ok. https://t.co/HP0KxWfydq

why are the comments acting like spotify is the only streaming service. her combined streams across all platforms are really good and this is a solid number for one singular platform. https://t.co/ToH7Ygvnjs pic.twitter.com/LcBGWYD6Iw
