The Seoul city government is going all out in preparation for BTS’s highly anticipated comeback, implementing extensive measures to ensure safety, convenience, and fair pricing as fans are expected to flood the city.

On March 4, the Seoul Metropolitan Government held a special inspection meeting at Seoul City Hall to review safety and operational plans related to BTS’s comeback events. The meeting was personally chaired by Oh Se Hoon, highlighting the significance of the occasion.

In his opening remarks, Mayor Oh described BTS’s return as a “king’s return,” emphasizing that the event is not only meaningful for fans but also deeply important for Seoul as a global city. He noted that large crowds are expected to gather across central Seoul, particularly around Gwanghwamun Square, and vowed that the city would prepare thoroughly so fans can enjoy the celebrations safely and comfortably.

With massive crowds anticipated at key locations such as Gwanghwamun Square and Seoul Plaza, Seoul announced a prevention-first safety strategy. This includes enhanced reviews of safety plans with expert consultation, subdividing event zones to prevent dangerous congestion, and deploying additional safety personnel proportional to expected crowd sizes.

The city will also utilize real-time crowd monitoring through urban data systems and CCTV, coordinating closely with event organizers and related agencies to respond immediately to any emergencies.

On the day of the event, Seoul plans to carefully manage entry and exit routes, prevent crowd surges during performances, station fire and emergency medical teams nearby, and secure emergency evacuation paths.

Transportation measures are also being reviewed, including non-stop subway service at nearby stations, bus detours due to road closures, and enhanced pedestrian safety measures. The city will temporarily suspend public bike rentals and shared personal mobility devices around the event area to reduce risks.

In addition, Seoul is taking a firm stance against price gouging and unfair business practices during the comeback period. Joint inspections with district offices will target accommodations suspected of inflating prices or inducing reservation cancellations.

Traditional markets and tourist-heavy areas will also be monitored using mystery shoppers, who will check for unfair pricing and report violations. Fans can report suspected price gouging through city hotlines or the Korea Tourism Organization.

The announcement has been met with praise from fans, many of whom applauded Seoul for recognizing BTS’s global impact and taking proactive steps to protect ARMY both locally and internationally.

As BTS prepares to return, it’s clear that the entire city of Seoul is ready for them!
