Recently, SEVENTEEN’s The8 allegedly spotted smoking and clubbing.
The video supposedly surfaced on Weibo, where the idols agency quickly released a statement.
SEVENTEEN’s The8 Allegedly Spotted Smoking And Clubbing With Women
However, the statement has been criticized for its inclusion of member Jun.
SEVENTEEN’s Jun
In the statement, the company issued broad statements mentioning both idols, stating that action would be taking against “violations of our artists’ portrait rights and reputation rights.“
Recently, false rumors and related discussions about our artists Wen Junhui (Jun) and Xu Minghao (The8) have appeared on online platforms. Unauthorized photos and videos of them have also been circulated, accompanied by malicious speculation and interpretations taken out of context. These have seriously misled the public. The content has continued to spread online and is entirely false information and malicious defamation arising from fan conflicts. It has severely affected the reputations of our two artists and disrupted their normal work and daily lives.
— Portion of Statement
According to fans, for more than a year, Jun has dealt with invasions of privacy not only affecting him, but also his family. Throughout that time, no statements were issued regarding those issues.
With the statement being issued following an issue involving The8, but not addressing Jun’s privacy concerns, some fans have criticized the company for not giving the issues the attention they need.

I re-read XCSS’s notice again. It starts with ‘false rumors and related discussions about our artists Jun and The8. Almost 95% of the notice covers unauthorized photos and videos and sharing of these contents. I don’t think Jun had any of these issues though. @pledis_17 Explain! pic.twitter.com/k54qPrWATX
