    Premiere Watch: Siren’s Kiss

    by stroopwafel

    Time slot: Monday & Tuesday
    Broadcaster: tvN
    Genre: Melo, mystery, thriller
    Episode count: 12
    Global streamer: Amazon Prime

Reasons to watch: tvN’s latest offering, Siren’s Kiss, is mixing up genres to bring us a melo thriller with a deadly mystery at the heart of the story. Starring Park Min-young and Wie Ha-joon, with Kim Jung-hyun as second lead, this trio is about to lead us into a world of seductive danger.

Wie Ha-joon is an insurance investigator whose latest assignment involves looking into a recent death that seems to be linked to art auctioneer Park Min-young. She’s beautiful, charming, and clearly hiding something. What further piques Wie’s interest is the realization that the deaths of two men are linked to Park, and she seemed to benefit from their demise.

While Wie investigates, Kim Jung-hyun lingers in the background, and he emerges from the periphery of Park Min-young’s life as someone who is hiding secrets of his own. Further complicating the assignment is Wie Ha-joon’s own growing attraction to Park Min-young. Is she a siren who leads men to their doom? And will Wie become her latest victim?

I’m especially curious to see Park Min-young’s chemistry with Wie Ha-joon and Kim Jung-hyun, and how their stories overlap. But even if the cast isn’t a primary draw, if you’re looking for a romance that leans towards heavy and dark, this might be the drama for you, as there has been an atmospheric tension in the promos tying all the elements of the story together.
