Song Kang and Lee Jun-young play Four Hands, Two Sonatas

Friendship, rivalry, and love blossom in tvN’s newest coming-of-age drama Four Hands, Two Sonatas (previously Four Hands). Starring Song Kang (Sweet Home 3) in his first drama since his military discharge, he plays an elite pianist to rival genius Lee Jun-young (Reborn Rookie).
The recent round of promotions lean heavily on the friendship between its two leads as the teaser opens with a camcorder shot of Kang Bi-oh (Song Kang). The date is November 2016, and the person behind the camera is Choi Jung-yo (Lee Jun-young). It definitely gives off “random video tape footage of dead girlfriend” vibes, and the romantic undertones are more like neon signs than subtle notes.
As we catch a glimpse of the two students at their arts high school, they seem to always be together whether in the classroom looking over sheet music or in a practice room playing the same piano. Neither can hide their smiles directed at the other, and to call them “best friends” at this point feels like a disservice. They even sleep together on the subway with their heads leaning on each other! (I might be delusional, but this is either some serious queerbaiting or the makings of a beautiful BL.) The teaser then ends with the words, “Prelude: the moment our fingers touch.”
Also in the cast are Jang Gyuri (When the Phone Rings) as Bi-oh’s friend and violist Hong Jae-in, Jung Jin-young (Queen of Tears) as Bi-oh’s grandfather and international conductor, Yoon Se-ah (Love Me) as Bi-oh’s mother, and Kim Joo-hun (Our Unwritten Seoul) as the two boys’ piano teacher.
Written by Shin Yi-won (Green Mothers’ Club) with PD Park Hyun-seok (Song of the Bandits) at the helm, tvN’s Four Hands, Two Sonatas is slated for twelve episodes and premieres August 29 in the Saturday-Sunday slot following Spooky in Love.
